CUTENESS OVERLOAD! I recently went shopping and found these super cute Owl biscuit cutters… and I just had to make something scrummy so I could use them! They leave a really nice impression on the biscuit as well that reads ‘homemade’ which I also adore! ❤
One of favourite biscuit recipes has to be shortbread, the simplicity yet delicious buttery melt in your mouth flavour is so good. The biscuit has a short texture as well so it really holds it shape when baking which is perfect if you’re using cookie stamp or plungers like this owl.
This is the store I bought the cutter from – http://www.oopsydaisies.co.uk/ 🙂
I really wanted to use a vanilla pod in the recipe as well because not only does it give an intense vanilla flavour but the seeds in the dough looks so nice! With only 4 ingredients in the recipe it’s super easy and quick and they make a great afternoon treat! You can use any cutter you have or use this as an excuse to buy a brand new one, a large cutter will make around 12 biscuits.
150g unsalted butter
65g caster sugar
1 vanilla pod
200g plain flour
1 – Preheat the oven to 170C. Cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy.
2 – Add in the vanilla pod seeds.
Top tip: cut the pod in half and scrape the seeds out.
3 – Add in the flour and combine until a dough forms. Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes.
4 – Roll out the dough and cut out the shapes. Lay onto a tray that has been lined with greaseproof paper. Bake for 10 minutes or until the biscuit is just catching and turning golden brown.
5 – Leave to cool on the tray as they will firm up and be easier to move once cooled.
I hope you like these and give them a go – you won’t regret it!
